It's great to see so much attention to the important trending issues by civic leaders examined and thoughtfully approached as detailed in this article.

With the apparent need to build new schools and the need for more and affordable housing, I'm curious if the cost of living and the cost of home ownership may be an obstacle to attracting better teachers to teach in the Alexandria schools. Affordable housing is a national problem and one underlying cause of homelessness and stress.

With regard to grade school teachers, pay inequity seems to be a long time issue especially in more affluent communities where the cost of living is higher, with teacher pay usually usually tiers below what other professions receive. Programs diminishing or alleviating a housing hardship may be an attractive program to lure better qualified teachers. Just a thought.
