A Zoning Reform Scorecard
The city's Planning and Zoning Department releases a summary of the projected impacts of the city's zoning reform proposals
On September 25, Alexandria’s Planning and Zoning Department (P&Z) released a two-page summary titled Zoning for Housing: New New Units and How They Are Supported by Infrastructure which provides the most informative overview to date of the projected additional housing units and affordable housing units expected as a result of the city’s multi-part zoning reform initiative.
P&Z’s summary describes as “net new” the housing units that would be allowed by the Zoning for Housing reforms beyond those already allowed by small area plans and existing zoning. The summary, and its assumptions and estimates, can be viewed
P&Z estimates that Zoning for Housing will create a little over 2,800 net new units over the next 10 years.
